Dean Radcliffe Scholarship to provide tuition support for hospitality & restaurant management students

This November, a named scholarship fund was established through the University of Alaska Foundation to benefit the Community & Technical College’s Culinary Arts, Hospitality, Dietetics, & Nutrition (CAHDN) Division. The scholarship honors the memory of Dean Radcliffe, a former instructor in the culinary arts program who passed away in June 2012.

It was Radcliffe’s wish to have a scholarship in his name that would benefit students pursuing a bachelor’s degree in hospitality & restaurant management. His family, in conjunction with CAHDN, has worked to honor his wishes. In addition to donations from the Radcliffe family, contributions made through a targeted fundraising effort during the division’s 2012 Celebrity Chef Invitational were directed to the scholarship.

Additional donations in the last few weeks have helped the fund reach the minimum balance required for endowment, making it eligible to award student scholarships. The first anticipated scholarship will be awarded for fall semester 2013.

Interested in donating? Visit the University of Alaska Foundation's website and designate the Dean Radcliffe Scholarship Fund in the Gift Information section.
