CTC helps facilitate productive partnerships with Alaska's schools

From the University of Alaska System and Shaping Alaska's Future 2017 websites

Shaping Alaska’s Future 2017 is an effort led by University of Alaska President Pat Gamble in conjunction with the UA System's three university chancellors and the Board of Regents. The Strategic Direction Initiative (SDI) will provide a framework for the next five years to 2017 – the 100th anniversary of  the University of Alaska's founding. SDI highlights five key themes, one of which is productive partnerships with Alaska's schools. The initiative seeks to gather feedback from students, faculty, staff, business leaders and employers, elected officials, alumni, donors, K-12 partners, and community members to help the UA System better serve Alaskans.

The UAA Community & Technical College's Chugiak-Eagle River Campus (CERC) began a collaborative with the Mat-Su Borough School District (MSBSD) last fall. About 40 Mat-Su juniors and seniors who volunteered for this pilot project are going to high school and college at the same time at CERC. MSBSD officials project that the number of students enrolling in the Alaska Middle College School will grow significantly in the fall of 2014. Click here to see the video.
